The Blue Lake

The Blue Lakes and White Sands are unique features of the town of Linden. These man-made lakes were formed in vast valleys that were left behind after mining activities ceased in the area.

One of the most popular lakes is the Blue Lake located in Wisroc. Like many others, this lake stretches over long distances and can reach depths of up to 12 meters (40 feet). The striking view of the blue waters in Linden, Guyana, often sparks debates about whether the water is truly blue. One theory suggests that the blue color is a result of the reflective properties of the sand at the bottom of the lakes, along with the influence of surrounding vegetation and the reflection of the sky.

While the lake is not safe for swimming, visitors can enjoy picnicking and relaxing by the water.
